gla1ve: "This is one of the worst days to have an off day, but it happened"

We managed to get a comment from Lukas "⁠gla1ve⁠" Rossander regarding Astralis' horrible start at BLAST Pro Series Copenhagen, which they opened with one-sided losses to Ninjas in Pyjamas and FaZe.

Astralis seem to be developing a "Copenhagen Curse" as, for a third time in a row, things aren't going well for the Danes at the BLAST Pro Series event in their capital. This time, despite being the highest-ranked team at the event, Astralis lost their first two games convincingly, 16-2 to FaZe and 16-7 to Ninjas in Pyjamas.

In an interview conducted in the mixed zone, gla1ve said that Astralis simply didn't show up, mostly individually, while also admitting that their schedule regarding sponsor and media obligation wasn't ideal leading up to the event on home soil.

This is obviously not the start you imagined it would be. What went wrong in the first two games here?

I think it was just two bad games for us. We didn't show up today and that is really unfortunate because this event means a lot to us as there will be so many Danish fans tomorrow, and now we are with our backs against the wall. We need to show up tomorrow to even have a chance to make it to the final.

Against FaZe you started with a 2-0 lead but lost the third round to an eco, did losing the momentum put you off in the FaZe game?

I think so. We lost the momentum and that makes a difference of course, but as we saw against NiP too, we just aren't hitting our shots today. This is one of the worst days to have an off day but it happened, and what can you actually do about it? We have to re-focus for tomorrow.

The casters were talking about the home field disadvantage, like the pressure you have playing here, and maybe all of these activations and media obligations you have outside the game. Did any of that play a part in this? Did you have enough time to prepare like you wanted to?

Of course, it is a really hectic schedule for us because we had our jersey launch and we have had so many days doing stuff with Astralis, but I guess that is the only way to it. There is not much to say about it, that is just how it is and we all know it and accept the fact. Of course, it is unfortunate, but you can't blame the Astralis guys for doing this because that is the way they make money, so I kind of understand it, but it is of course really unfortunate for us.

How do you pick up from this? How do you get back tomorrow and make the 3-0 result to advance to the final?

That is really tough. Right now I just feel that we are not good enough to win a match, even win a round. I mean, myself, I made a lot of mistakes in both games and I know some of the other guys made a lot of mistakes as well. We have to pick ourselves up, mainly individually. Rounds like when five of us go towards Lekr0 playing solo on B and he kills 3 guys and suddenly we are in a 2v4 situation. It is really tough when you lose rounds like that, we just need to win those rounds, there is not much to say.
